Raspberry Pi 4B isn't linking to the Wi-Fi network.
I just reinstalled RaspberryPiOs 64bit but now it can't connect to the Wi-Fi after rebooting, even though it's saved and I've been using it before. I set a static IP, but it still doesn't work. When I try to do it manually, it asks for the password again and creates two saved connections of the same network.
Change the fixed IP address. You’re configuring one? Make sure you’re keeping the same one. For consistency, reserve it in the DHCP settings of your router instead.
You cannot just set a static IP on a device and expect it to work on a DHCP enabled network. That's not how it works. It won't work. It may have worked briefly but that is a fluke. If you don't even have router access, why do you need a static IP?
You can assign a fixed IP address outside the DHCP range, which excludes your network from DHCP assignments. This method works well if you're using it for a Pi-hole or similar. DHCP reservations remain a viable option but should complement a static assignment. You might also switch to DHCP entirely to resolve the issue. If the PIE4 loses Wi-Fi connection, pinging your static IP reveals whether another device is using it. There were reported 5GHz compatibility problems with the Pi4—consider forcing it to use the 2.4GHz band if needed.
I'll use it for pihole and will conduct additional tests upon returning home.
