Last week I replaced my CPU, motherboard, and cooler with the 5800X3D, Asus Tuf B550+WiFi 2, and LianLi alc360. I'm seeing brief temperature spikes on my desktop. Is this typical? I don't recall my 5600X ever spiking briefly before returning to normal. The BIOS is the latest version (3405). When nothing is happening, the package temperature stays around 41°C but spikes reach up to 70°C. Could it be the lighting software or Chrome launching at startup that's triggering this?

Zen3 is normal. Mouse movement can trigger spikes, but it's not a cause for concern.

Your computer isn't running at 50,000,000 frames per second—do you really consider yourself a PC enthusiast?

I’ve stopped monitoring those temps nonstop for years now. It’s been a big change for my peace of mind. I used to obsess over CPU and GPU readings nonstop, even with a huge 30-inch monitor showing HWiNFO graphs. Letting go of water cooling and all the worries about pumps and leaks has been a relief. I set everything up, ran stress tests, tweaked fan settings, and now focus on my work without distractions. When needed, I’ll peek at the CPU temps on the motherboard debug display.

That's my experience during the folding month, viewed on a 1280x1024 screen.

I also dealt with several unexpected black screen issues the night I first connected the aio. It’s unsettling thinking I might have damaged it before diagnosing the problem.

If it helps you feel better unless you manually tweak the voltages, it’s unlikely to damage anything. Modern CPUs handle this by lowering their speed and cutting power long before any harm occurs.

It might occur if the cooling becomes too ineffective, causing the temperature to keep rising...
