Random new Windows PC BSODs happening now
Hey everyone, let's cut to the chase. I built this setup from scratch and it keeps giving me trouble—no clear reason or link between what’s happening. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve tried:
- Sometimes the system freezes with a brief BSOD before restarting or shutting down.
- Occasionally, when running certain tasks, it crashes randomly.
- Running Cinebench on both CPU and GPU seems fine, but after a crash, the PC restarts itself right away.
- I’ve disabled XMP settings, changed monitors, swapped RAM sticks, and even removed the NVIDIA card to test.
- After reinstalling the OS and resetting the BIOS, it still crashes repeatedly during login or shortly after.
I’m really stuck and would love any advice or insights to help figure this out. Thanks in advance!
Maybe the issue lies with the motherboard. It's possible that the power supply isn't consistent, especially near a large industrial area. You might want to verify the stability of your power source using the electricity meter. If it fluctuates, consider using a UPS or battery backup.
In the past, while working in Spain for a couple of months, I had to install a UPS for my PC during peak factory hours due to interference from nearby rollers. This caused voltage dips below 200V (which is normal in the EU). Based on what you shared, it doesn’t seem like this is the main cause, but it’s worth checking.
(You’re unsure of other potential factors.)
The collection file didn't contain any dump files from the BSODs. Please verify manually. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and look for minidump files. If present, return to the Windows folder and move the Minidump folder to the Downloads directory (use your desktop if needed). Compress the moved folder and attach it to a post. Follow instructions carefully—Windows doesn't allow changes in this location. If no dump files exist, recall any crash error messages. Examining Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System for events from the past two days can also assist. Highlight those events, right-click, and save them. Attach the saved file to your post.
