I've experienced slowdowns or stuttering while playing games on my new PC, unlike my old setup. Someone helped me check the performance, and everything looked okay at first. They suggested playing games when network traffic was low, which seemed to help when there were fewer users online. I ran a speed test and everything appeared normal. It's unclear if the issue is consistent or just occasional. Others might have different experiences, so it could be worth investigating further. Consider checking for background processes, updating drivers, or testing on another network if possible.

Checking the observed speeds versus your cost. Ping results were measured on both WiFi and Ethernet connections. The network adapter details have been provided for clarity.

I’m connected via Ethernet on a Linksys mesh router and maintaining the advertised speeds, though I notice a high ping of about 45.

When multiple users are using the internet simultaneously, your connection might slow down. Check for QoS configurations that could help manage this issue. Also note: a direct wired connection to a mesh node differs from a wired link to the main router or gateway. The latter depends on a wireless uplink to the central mesh router, which can add extra delay due to its setup. Mesh networks mainly expand reach and usually keep speeds near their peak; they can't ensure minimal latency.
