Random freezing during installation of new construction.
Random freezing during installation of new construction.
Initially, I encountered problems with frequent random freezes on my system. These interruptions appear mostly during gameplay but also occur while browsing or using Discord. Each freeze lasts only a few seconds to a couple of minutes, and I can still hear sounds from the PC—like voices in Discord or game audio—but I can't move the mouse or see the screen freeze entirely. Once it recovers, the system doesn’t smoothly resume; it feels like a laggy pause.
I've tried numerous fixes: replacing the motherboard and BIOS, swapping RAM modules, performing a fresh Windows 11 install, updating the GPU, and even returning the CPU after an RMA. Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I'm seeking advice from others who might have faced similar challenges. A friend suggested it could be a graphics card problem, though they also hinted at a power supply issue. Since my previous PC had working components and was still functional two years ago, I’m unsure what to prioritize next.
A colleague of mine has the same build, including the case, and hasn’t experienced these freezes. Their PSU and GPU are from another build, both old but without issues. If anyone can recommend a solution or point out something I missed, it would be greatly appreciated. This problem is frustrating, especially since I only assembled the PC recently and have already replaced all major parts. Thank you in advance for your help.
Are you operating at full capacity? If not, give it another shot. Have you verified your RAM with a Memtest86? Did you test it with 32GB? Are you using 2 or 4 modules? Are your drivers and BIOS current? You might also switch off the GPU to try the integrated graphics. Edited April 19, 2024 by leclod
