just last night my secondary m.2 drive (crucial p2 2tb) started quirking out. I was playing dead space and the game would suddenly crash after trying to load a door, and then the game wouldn't launch at all until I restarted my system. after the 2nd restart, windows wasn't even seeing the drive, so I assumed it was dead. I decided to troubleshoot and re-seat it just in case, and shockingly it did start showing up in windows again and even ran fine for about an hour, fully downloading mirror's edge catalyst and playing for about 5 minutes until suddenly the world unloaded itself and the game crashed. what I can't quite tell is if this is a drive issue or a motherboard issue, since if the drive was just totally shot i'd assume re-seating it wouldn't have done diddly. the drive is roughly a year and some change old, while the motherboard is a very recent brand new purchase within the past couple months. i'm unsure what other troubleshooting steps there are, please help me forum i need help
Thermals should work fine, but I'll verify with hwinfo just to be sure. My main drive is also an M.2 unit occupying the only remaining slot on the board. I could rearrange them, but if it's the motherboard I'm worried about damaging or corrupting the main drive.
