Hey there, I’ve got a bit of a tech story to share. I’m using an R9 7950X with an ASRock B650E motherboard, and about three weeks ago I upgraded my RAM from the Crucial 2x16GB 4800MHz CL40 to a Trident Z5 Neo 2x16GB 6000MHz CL30 kit for Zen 4. I’ve been playing since Christmas, but I ran into some problems. One day I couldn’t even open Windows 10—it would load to the login screen and then lose power, restarting several times with a clicking noise from the PSU. I’ve had an RM850X for six years; I thought it was the issue, so I took it in for warranty. The service didn’t check if it was a PSU problem and just gave me a refund after I paid six years ago.

I switched to a backup PSU, the RMA1000i from a marketplace seller. It came with only 65€ during the early days of the pandemic, but it’s missing some cables and the box isn’t included. It was from a miner, and the serial number says it’s from 2018—so I used that as a temporary fix. Now it’s been running for a month without restarting. The only downside is that the RMA1000i has a buzzing problem and it only has an 8-pin CPU connector, while my B650E needs 8+4 pins.

Anyway, here’s what I’m experiencing lately: in about three to four days I get random BSODs saying “driver powerstate failure.” It happens even when I’m just browsing the web. If I use Steam for games like L4D2, it freezes and then crashes again. I tried installing fresh Windows 11 after getting the Trident Z5 Neo RAM, with all drivers updated and no overclocking. I also installed Windows 10 just to rule out a Windows issue.

I’m trying to figure out what’s going on—maybe it’s related to the SSD I’m using to launch games. Sometimes it works fine for short bursts, like 10 minutes of Warzone, but then crashes. Any suggestions would be really helpful!
