I just verified it isn't listed, but it functions correctly now, so it doesn't seem like an issue with the model.

One of my older PCs, which I haven’t used much but was a folding home machine for years, only supports 3 RAM sticks or fewer. No matter the slot or type, it won’t run 4. I’m certain the motherboard is faulty, but there’s little you can do since it’s not in use. The chances that the RAM won’t work are very low—it’s essentially standard. If someone with a DDR4 system uses their sticks, try them together and see if the same issues appear, or observe if their PC starts acting up. This could help determine whether the problem is with the RAM, the motherboard, or the CPU. If you haven’t tried, consider running memtest86+ all night to check for errors in your RAM.

I hope you're correct since I can simply visit the store, mention the defect, and return it. The issue is I only have one person with dd4, but he's too nervous about his computer to even try. He should be ashamed we were both in the same class where we learned to build computers—he should know I'm capable, and he should understand he should know what he's doing...
Go to the shop, they'll be able to check it using another RAM stick there.
