Hello, I'm trying to understand why my computer uses so much RAM. The Task Manager shows I'm using around 90% of my 16GB, even though I only have 7GB installed right now. I think Windows might be consuming a lot, but it's not that high. After booting up, when nothing is running, the RAM usage drops to about 43%. No programs or apps are open, and no software like Steam Cleaner is running. Could you help me figure this out? Thanks!

Are you certain Windows is detecting all 16 GB? It seems like it might only recognize 8 GB.

The task manager isn't comprehensive enough. Consider installing Process Explorer from Microsoft and examine private working sets for each process.

On Cleaner it shows 16GB, but in my BIOS it identifies as 16GB DDR4 3200.

The most recent time you checked for malware was before this conversation. I found a comparable article and resolved it by removing the infections. The user had two malicious files present on the system.

This could be a more advanced task manager. I’m really struggling to recognize it, but I think it might offer better features compared to what I have now.

Do you want to know which Java app is using the most memory? The system is consuming a significant amount of RAM. The captured image only displays about 43% utilization, but this can be misleading given the high load from Opera and Java programs. If usage rises again above 70%, open the process monitor to identify the resource-heavy processes.
