Worked properly at first, then after three hours I returned to my PC only to find it wouldn’t boot. Reseating the RAM sticks helped but only one was recognized. I cleared CMOS, reinserted the sticks, swapped slots, tried a different stick (it worked), and changed the RAM type (probably not the motherboard). Memtest86 showed no issues. It seems the problem might be with the RAM itself—consider replacing it. Any advice would be helpful!
the colors are just the lights receiving power. the dimmer talks to the cpu through the memory line in basic terms. make sure you follow your motherboard manual to confirm the right port for a 2 dimmer setup for dual-channel use, especially if your board has four dimmer slots.

I would attempt to borrow some RAM from a friend to test the system. Changing the RAM windows could require reconfiguring itself due to memory changes, which might help determine if the issue lies with your own memory stick. I’d consider this approach before spending money on replacement. Memory diagnostics are useful but not always accurate. Another option is checking the BIOS—if XMP is enabled, turn it off to see if the system runs smoothly. XMP generally works well, though updates might cause instability in some cases.

if you already attempted using 2 sticks of ram from another source and the issue remained the I would assume it is not the memory dimm itself. I suggest you carefully remove and clean the dimm contacts with a little isopropyl and use a soft toothbrush and gently clean the dimm slots just to ensure there is no dust a speck of dirt or something that over time has gotten in there. Normally if memory begins to get cranky you have odd behaviour in the desktop as crashing when loading a game BSODs sudden errors etc. you could have a look in event viewer to see if anything was listed relating to memory problems. I have never experienced a memory channel suddenly failing but I imagine t could be possible but without having ever experienced such an issue i have no knowledge to draw from.
I used an older 8GB RAM with a 2666MHz speed before upgrading; it functioned then. Now I’m testing isopropyl alcohol and hoping it works. The other RAM from the pack or the old stick fits in any slot, but the new one doesn’t show up when I try to install it. That suggests the issue isn’t with the motherboard.
All slots function properly now. Did you test using two dimmers at the same speed and capacity together? If so, dual channels seem to work, though it looks like one dimmer failed. If my understanding is right, adding them one at a time resolves the issue.

I also tried using only the broken stick, which didn't help. When both sticks were present, only the working one was recognized. I used an older stick alone and it functioned. I also tried a newer stick with the old one, and both were detected. It seems there might be some confusion or explanation needed here. If you need further clarification, let me know.
