You can use two RAM modules, placing one in each slot. Since your motherboard only has two slots, filling both will work fine. You don’t need a second stick unless you want more memory.

It's important to fill both slots. Using single-channel RAM can significantly hurt performance.

The boards with four DIMM slots offer some differences—like T Topology or a daisy chain—so each channel gets two sticks. Running memory in slots 2 and 4 is recommended for most boards because it matches the memory layout, giving optimal performance. You still fill each channel, but you reduce pressure on the memory controller. On 1DPC boards, make sure you fill every channel fully to get the best results.

Most Vermeers reach around 1900fclk, some struggle more, and those that manage it often do so by staying just under that threshold. My CCD chip struggles past 1833 with four sticks, but it holds steady at 2000 when using two. The dual-CCD version handles four sticks smoothly up to 1900, though it drops out after that. It can work over 1900 with two sticks, but stability is lost. That’s a bit disappointing. If you’re considering buying four, go for Samsung B-Die models—they offer dual-rank benefits and better timing. Speaking of, if your processor supports 2000fclk with two sticks but you need four, you won’t match the speed of a single pair, though performance will remain comparable in the mid-1800s range.
