A year ago I purchased an Asus Rog Strix X570-E motherboard. It sat on my shelf until last June when I finally got a Ryzen 5800X. I upgraded from an Aorus Z370 gaming board with an I5-8500. Combined they all kept triggering BSODs every few minutes. Repeatedly I encountered these messages: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA. The error logs showed: Npfs.sys UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE, amdppm.sys. I had 32 gigabytes (8x4) of PCIe 2.0 slots and used 8GB of Corsair Trident memory. After several tries and reinstalling Windows, I began inspecting the hardware. Initially I thought the RAM wasn’t compatible—around 16 gigabytes of Corsair Vengeance Pro. Still the problems persisted. Eventually I discovered the system only worked with specific slots (A2 and B2). Once I switched to A1 or B1, the issues returned. Spent over a week trying to diagnose and eventually gave up, taking it to a local tech group for a second opinion. They confirmed the CPU was fine but couldn’t run a memory test. Without another 250 for a full system rebuild and verification, they suspected the motherboard itself was faulty. I returned it under my one-year warranty, attaching screenshots of the errors. They said they’d updated the BIOS and couldn’t replicate the problems. Everything functioned normally afterward. Now I’m uncertain about what’s happening. Another concern I have is my graphics card. I own an Aorus 2070 Super 8G. During the first setup it was running, fans were active, but the RGB lights didn’t activate. The graphics card is still working and producing over 100 FPS in games, with MSI Afterburner monitoring it without issues. The system reports the card is present, and games run smoothly. If anyone knows what’s going on with my configuration, please advise. I’ve spent half the year in a remote mining camp, and this is my only escape when I’m back home.
