RAM performance for Ryzen 9 models
Hello everyone, I'm considering purchasing a Ryzen 9 5950X CPU but still unsure about the RAM speed. A 32GB configuration at 3200MHz with speeds like 16-18-18-38 looks promising for value. The model mentioned is sold at a competitive price in Poland (~530zł). What are your opinions? Should I go for 3600Mhz or even higher? Thanks, WS
It costs roughly 530 zloty for a 32GB 3200MHz model, and the cheapest 3600MHz CL17 version is about 710 zloty. It’s unclear if the extra cost is justified since the performance gain is minimal.
I just discovered a 3600Mhz RAM kit priced at 17-19-19 for 629 zł—definitely a great offer!
The timing at 3600 is quite poor. For a 3600 kit, ensure it includes 16-16-16-36 as the standard XMP settings. It shouldn't be overly costly either. If budget is tight, consider lowering the CPU to a 5900X and using four 3600 units with 16-16-16-36 timings—this offers comparable performance except for very specialized tasks, and it might be cheaper than the 5950X.
Purchase a quality B-DIE or (micron) e-DIE kit and install it yourself.
It's also quite costly, nearly double what you'd pay for this GOODRAM's sticks. I'm particularly keen on the RAM model "GoodRam IRDM, DDR4, 32 GB, 3600MHz, CL17 (IRP-3600D4V64L17/32GDC)". It's priced around 629zł (1$ = 3,7787zł), which seems reasonable. The benchmarks are solid, and they mention it could be improved with better timings. It's Hynix CJR RAM, though I'm not entirely sure what that refers to.
