So I'll start this out by saying I'm a total noob to overclocking. I'm also not interested in trying to overclock the cpu, as it is a rig I'm building for my fiance. I recently learned that getting my true potential out of my ram requires changing the frequency in bios, and I'm attempting to do that for hers, and more than likely mine in the future.
Specs
Asrock b450m steel legend mb
AMD Ryzen 5 2600
G Skill Ripjaws ddr4-3600 16gb 19 latency
Currently showing at 2133 frequency, and any attempt that I make to move the frequency, including tinkering with the timing, as well as attempting default xmp, has ended up in failing and boot loop. Any help would be much appreciated!
I should also note that my bios is not updated to the latest update, and I'm worried to do so because asrock themselves do not recommend it with my processor chipset, however, it says the same thing about the update I'm currently on (2.70)

With a Ryzen 5 2600 you don't have to upgrade to the newest BIOS since it simply updates the AGESA to Version 1.0.0.4 Patch B, which is tailored for Ryzen 3000 series processors.
Just open the BIOS by pressing the DEL key repeatedly after rebooting your PC.
Navigate to the OC Tweaker section and turn on the XMP Profile for your RAM.
Refer to page 57 of your manual:
http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/B450M Steel Legend.pdf
If the XMP profile isn't recognized at 3600 MHz, keep it enabled but adjust the Frequency to 2933 and test booting.
If successful, increase the DRAM Frequency to 3200 and check for a boot.
Based on the information, your memory supports up to 3533 RAM with a Ryzen 2000 (Pinnacle Ridge CPU):
https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B450M Steel Legend/#Specification
So options like 3200, 3333, 3400 or even 3533 should work best.

Tried everything possible and it didn't work. Even moving up to 2400 and slowly increasing didn't succeed :/

I would check the Asrock support forums and ask if anyone else with your exact motherboard has found a solution, such as downgrading the BIOS to a version that works better with 2000 series CPUs. On my Asus B450-F with a Ryzen 5 2600, the optimal BIOS for RAM compatibility was version 1201. After updating to a newer version, I could no longer run my RAM at 3400 and had to lower it to 3200.

Took some time experimenting with my 2600x and G.skill Trident Z Royal Gold 3600 Cl16. It worked without errors, but it required 1.45v.
