Hello! For a minor upgrade path this year, consider starting with the SSD upgrade first. It will boost performance significantly. Next, focus on the RAM—upgrade to at least 16GB with a faster speed (3200MHz). Finally, replace the existing storage device if possible. Let me know if you need more details!

Your current storage setup seems adequate. However, I’m unsure which games might need more or faster storage. Upgrading your RAM to 4x8GB DDR4 at 3200MT/s would be beneficial, particularly if the additional 2x8GB kit matches the Teamgroup Elite Vulcan TUF model you already own.

Yes, that's the strategy. Using the same setup as my current system. For the SSD, I'll add Fortnite to a separate drive, Genshin will go on another partition, and OW2 too.

If you already have sufficient memory, it's best to purchase another unit for the identical model. Dual boot requires matching RAM pairs, so identical specs won't significantly boost performance beyond speed improvements and aesthetics. For heavy game downloads, consider increasing storage capacity—1 terabyte is now common, and game files continue to grow. Let me know if you need more advice!

I've played Fortnite on an HDD before. It's manageable but slow. I mainly enjoy singleplayer games, so long loading times don't really bother me even if it takes time. Since OW2 and Fortnite are online Battle Royale titles, I’d recommend upgrading to an SSD for better performance. I’m not sure about Genshin Impact—I don’t play it. Would you usually use a display tablet? If you spend several hours each week creating art, I’d suggest focusing on RAM.

You should decide based on your needs—RAM or a 500GB SSD—both fit within your current budget of 35 USD.

It would be wise to opt for storage because game sizes are increasing rapidly. Swapping existing RAM kits with marginally improved ones won’t significantly boost in-game performance beyond minor visual and speed gains. Simply purchase a 500 GB SSD, giving you 1 TB of space—more than sufficient for most current titles.

While playing Fortnite (every first start), the loading screen stays longer on HDD and I end up near the map edge after loading. OW2 is currently using my boot SSD, and I might reinstall it if I get a new SSD. For art and 2D animation, I handle the workload easily since I usually work at 1080p with 300dpi files. No plans for 4K animation yet.

Wasting resources on RAM would be a waste. The small boost in speed you gain wouldn’t be noticeable. Consider adding more storage. Also, save a bit of money and opt for a 1TB drive priced around $45 to $50, not the expensive 500.

He already possesses 500gb; adding another would equate to roughly 1 tb. He could also upgrade to a faster storage option overall. A solid SSD fitting your budget: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vPpzK8/...500p3pssd8 If you wish to swap his existing SSD, a 1 tb model would be ideal.
