Ram operates solely on the A-channel
Hey everyone, I'm using an Intel i5-10400F on a MSI B460M bazooka board. It was built last year. I noticed I can only run it in one channel now. The motherboard has debug LEDs flashing for the CPU, RAM, VGA, and boot—usually they follow a sequence. If I swap a RAM stick to the B channel, the LEDs loop between CPU and RAM and back again. Only in certain channels do things work properly. I've tried: re-seating the CPU (no bent pins), running MemTest86, checking for bent RAM pins, putting RAM on A/B2, trying a CMOS battery, and confirming RAM compatibility. It seems to work fine on the A channel. Any thoughts or tips?
Have you checked if all your current sticks function in the first channel? A BIOS update might help slightly. But it seems the motherboard or the CPU’s built-in memory controller could have a hardware issue. You may want to test the board with another CPU or swap it with another person’s components for comparison.
It's an older air cooler I purchased a while back. I haven't managed to install it as an aftermarket part, and even after trying to reattach it, the issue remains unchanged.
