Whenever i apply the xmp profile, my ram which is 16 gigabytes of ddr4, after saving the changes and when the pc restarts, it doesn't alter the clockspeed and remains fixed at 2133

It seems unlikely these components would cause problems with B450 Steel Legend and the second generation Ryzen. The issue might stem from incorrect motherboard settings not defined in the XMP profile. Start by turning on Gear Down Mode. If that fails, adjust the SOC voltage to 1.1V. You might also set procODT to a value like 40 for stability, though higher values could boost performance but reduce stability. Increasing the DRAM voltage to 1.4 or 1.45V may assist, but if it doesn't meet XMP requirements, consider returning it.

Do you need the complete specifications or would it suffice to have the CPU, motherboard, and RAM details?

Following the adjustments and restart, does the system take an excessively long time to remain idle (such as 45 seconds to a minute), which might indicate a memory training issue? What are the main clock settings for the RAM?

after applying the settings it takes a while, but it doesn't save the updated times—my existing ones remain unchanged.

The timing details at 2133Mhz are confirmed. These should appear in the product description for your RAM.

Alright, I think there might be some problems with B450 Steel Legend and the second generation Ryzen. It could be because the motherboard settings aren't properly configured by the XMP profile. Start by turning on Gear Down Mode. If that doesn’t resolve it, adjust the SOC voltage to 1.1V. You might also want to set procODT to a value like 40 as a starting point—higher values can improve stability but may reduce performance. Increasing the DRAM voltage to 1.4 or 1.45V could help, though at that point it won’t meet XMP requirements and you might need to return it.
