Hi there, your partner is facing some serious PC troubles lately. Every night she wakes up, the computer has trouble starting and only works with one less RAM stick. Even when she reins it in, it doesn’t function properly again, so we suspect a hardware issue. We believe the problem might be with the motherboard (Gigabyte B550 Aurorus Master), though it was bought just last year. Originally, the CPU LED stayed on and wouldn’t power down or shut off, then began flashing between the CPU and RAM LEDs. We’re not sure what to do next. The system has been stable for over a year, so we were unsure if it was the CPU itself. She’s using a Ryzen 5 5600x. Anyone have ideas or solutions we could try? She’s checking the RAM on her brother’s machine to see if they’re also dead or just not recognized. Thanks for your help!

Obtain a fresh RAM package, preferably 2x16. Ensure slots A2 and B2 are ready. Once installed, update the firmware on the motherboard to the latest AGESA version. (Update BIOS as needed for the specific motherboard revision.) If the new modules fail, return them and purchase a different motherboard (though this is unlikely).

Consider testing those RAM sticks first, especially if they fit her brother's setup. Alternatively, you could opt for new ones without taking any chances. She’s open to trying it out.

If they operate within the alternative framework, it's acceptable. However, it may not be necessary to wait if the current setup is problematic. I'd prefer to acquire a fresh unit and evaluate it directly.

They tested all four sticks in their brother setup and everything started working immediately without any issues. After that, I’ll share the update once they do, to check the outcome!

That's noteworthy. If the problem persists, it could point to a CPU memory controller issue, which is relatively uncommon.
