RAM consumption rises to over 10 GB upon assigning 2 GB of memory
Windows 10 CPU performance is affected by AMD Ryzen 7 2700, GPU Radeon RX 580, 32 GB RAM at 3200 MHz. After a recent Windows update, I encountered issues and couldn't roll back the changes. Minecraft launches at 1.5 GB and grows to over 10 GB after about 20 minutes. FPS drops consistently worsen during gameplay. The game requires 512 MB minimum and up to 2048 MB. My system runs slow overall, with delays when launching apps or browsing, even on fast connections. Any advice would be helpful!
Stock launcher with vanilla Minecraft or alternatives? Java from Oracle? The computer feels slow consistently or only when Minecraft runs? I plan to test OpenJDK for Java and compare outcomes. Even a Microsoft or Amazon Java version should work without extra steps.
MultiMC launcher includes mods, though this occurs even in vanilla MultiMC. Java comes directly from Oracle. The system often runs sluggish, but this might just be a placebo effect—there isn’t extreme lag. I’ll try different Java versions to check.
If it's modded and vanilla then yea maybe an issue in the Java install as I'm not aware of any on the base game atm. Or at least some disagreement with Java and Windows. Or something is living in your PC piggybacking on that java use. Was going recommend fabulously optimized modpack for performance but it may conflict with stuff you have already. Side note other Java apps can conflict with MC in Windows. I know both Steam and Photoshop have in the past so make sure nothing else is up as well.
I can't view the Task Manager details directly. Would you like me to look up the JVM arguments for this UI based on available documentation?
