I have a current setup that has been combined over ten years.
My system includes: ROG Crosshair VIII Hero X570, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X with 12 cores, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3050 8 GB GPU, Crucial MX500 1TB SSD, Corsair Vengeance 4X8 (32GB) RAM at 3200 MHz, a 850W Corsair power supply, a Hyper 212 Black CPU fan, an old IBuyPower case that still has the CD drive, and I run two monitors while gaming.
I have a general RAM question—currently using around 75-80% utilization during gaming. I’m considering upgrading to 48 GB or 64 GB, but I’ve heard AI is making memory usage unpredictable. Thanks for the advice.

You can combine 8GB and 16GB sticks in the remaining two slots, provided they are all DDR4 3200 and match the brand and type. Alternatively, you might need to purchase four 16GB sticks instead.

As Lutfij highlighted, combining and mixing RAM can lead to several issues. This is particularly noticeable when using RAMs with varying capacities or speeds. Larger capacity RAM usually struggles with faster timings and speeds. For compatibility, synchronized clocks, voltage, and timings are essential. Otherwise, you'll either be limited to the slowest settings or the combination will fail entirely.

Considering the current price of RAM and the previous concerns, switching browsers seems a more practical solution. Chrome is a good choice since it runs on the same Chromium platform but uses significantly less RAM during operations. Other free browsers also consume much less RAM compared to Chrome. This offers a straightforward and cost-effective way to address the problem without needing to upgrade your existing RAM.

You might not necessarily face a RAM shortage issue.
Task manager can give false impressions when checking RAM usage.
Windows keeps unused code in RAM until it’s needed again.
When an application attempts to access code not currently in RAM, it must retrieve it from the page file and overwrite older data, causing a hard page fault. This halts the app until the issue is resolved.
Solving this can be difficult if the page file resides on a HDD.
In Task Manager, navigate to the resource monitor/memory section.
Examine the hard fault rate column.
If values exceed zero, consider increasing RAM capacity.
For genuine additional needs, purchase a compatible RAM kit of appropriate size to replace your existing one.
Ensure the new RAM matches the specifications to function correctly.

Work on reducing the size of the startup group to potentially increase flexibility.
