The installed memory appears larger than the available memory because it includes virtual addresses and overhead, while the system shows only physical RAM. This discrepancy is normal.

No, there isn't much available in Hardware Reserved. The connectors aren't in the correct positions.

I’ve got an 8gb stock and a 4gb stick. Installed is 12 obviously but the available is 5.80gb. Never really looked into the slots or anything since it’s an hp laptop

I have an 8GB drive and a 4GB drive. It says 12 installed, but only 5.80GB free. I haven’t checked the ports or anything because it’s an HP laptop at TofuHaroto.

This seems unusual, perhaps not the main cause. Let's try reinstalling it.

Attempted to reset again but had no success. The number changed several times—once it went up to 10GB, then dropped back to 5.80. My friend suggested it might be a corrupted RAM issue.

Sure, share the image of Task Manager so we can review it.

You have sufficient space allocated—1.8GB for integrated graphics and 5.3GB for additional programs. That’s typical.
