The price is currently $45 on Steam, and some people are talking about whether it’s a good deal. There are mixed opinions—some find it valuable, others think it’s overpriced. It might be worth checking reviews before buying.
Mostly the party system is in Uplay; Steam just adds extra DRM. I haven’t faced any problems with it. However, I haven’t played much multiplayer myself. I got it on GMG for $39.99 US—around $53CDN—and I’m happy with that price. EDIT: I have friends I play with, which makes it more enjoyable. It’s not as fun playing solo, but I still don’t regret it.
It performs fairly well on Nvidia hardware. (Nvidia Shitworks ftl) The multiplayer network code is quite flawed—you can easily clear around 7-8 rounds of 5.56mm bullets from the side of someone's head, and they absorb every shot without any damage. There’s no dedicated single-player campaign either. I wouldn’t suggest purchasing it.
