Hey everyone, I'm facing a problem with Rainbow Six: Siege that hasn't changed since the game's official release. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 Pro x64 to try and fix it, but nothing has helped. The issue happens occasionally during gameplay—just before a round starts, I notice a sudden drop in my FPS. Normally I'm around 45-50 FPS at 1080p, but it plummets to 5-10 when the problem appears. It's frustrating because I can't manually adjust anything to restore normal performance. Sometimes I close the game and switch contexts for about a minute during low FPS periods (ALT+Tab), but it doesn't seem to solve it. My CPU is running at 3.98GHz with usage around 40-47%, and RAM peaks at 3.3GB. The game tends to use more RAM than expected, which might be contributing. I've shared my PC specs and a DxDiag file for reference.

I’m not sure if the issue lies with the CPU; if so, I’d recommend checking the GPU first. Have you experimented with reducing texture settings? Also, what power supply do you use, and are there similar problems in other titles?

See this video showing a setup with a marginally slower CPU. Check how tidy your heatsinks are around both the GPU and CPU, and share your temperatures.

I've just purchased Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease for my CPU. Right now it's running at around 45°C with the CPU idle and 50°C with the GPU idle. During gameplay it warms up to about 81°C for the CPU and drops to 55°C for the GPU.
