Now I feel old... my first MMORPG from 2002 apparently. Might be older than some visiting this forum. Anyway, I thought I'd give it another go to see what it's like, and that's where my problems began... I used to play on IRO and the link for that from google doesn't connect. Not a good start. Another link is letting me download something called Ragnarok Transcendence, and that seems active, with the last news post only a few days ago. However the link to register on that site doesn't load either... I saw a post somewhere that RO2 was no longer being developed, but I haven't found any info about RO1 which is what I'm really interested in. Anyone more up to date than I am? Also as a complication, I'm effectively still in EU for now. When GDPR first came in, I think I saw an e-mail to the effect they were killing EU accounts. Presumably they decided it was more efficient for them to lose that playerbase than to comply with GDPR. However I see on the IRO preview on google there is talk about EU events, so maybe they reversed course on that? Not that I can check directly if the site isn't accessible. I don't know if the game is dead, if EU is blocked, or there might be a transient problem. Edit: I found a link that seems to be working, but this appears to be from a different provider than my previous account, if they even still exist. https://eu.4game.com/ro/#ro

They likely disabled the official servers and halted their operations.

Thanks for the link. It seems the information wasn't easily located during my initial search. You're right about the split between Classic and the newer version—even if Classic is no longer available, the updated one might still exist. The game lets me access it, so I've moved past character creation and am ready to proceed with the YouTube video.

The discussion suggests only the usual servers were affected, with no classic ones mentioned. The focus was mainly on the thread itself since the player hadn’t played Ragnarok before.

Thank you for checking. My Google skills aren't performing well right now, but I'll try to help with whatever works.
