I recently acquired a Radeon Pro V620 and am still trying to figure out how to use it. It was retired from a Tencent cloud gaming server, and I’m not sure what to do about cooling it properly. Removing the outer casing doesn’t improve airflow to the heatsink fins. Running it on an ASUS ROG Rampage 5 Extreme with Xeon E5-2699V3 seems tricky because the owner warned it’s only compatible with a PCIE Gen 4*16 interface. Building a custom 3D cooling solution feels out of my reach without any experience. The card also has many enterprise features I don’t understand, like a suspected on-board remote control chip and several confusing headers. If anyone has experience with this card or knows about 3D printed cooling options, please let me know.
UPDATE: I take this card apart and this is what it looks like.
I plan to deploy ROCm on this card, taking advantage of its 32GB VRAM and the very affordable price of just 2499 CNY. This setup will let me run Stable Diffusion at a much higher quality locally and even approach models like LLama. I initially believed it was merely a repainted V620, but I was mistaken—this device is far more capable than expected.
Start by gathering duct tape, small plastic pieces, and a 120-meter fan. Apply the tape around the plastic and the fan to create a functional fan duct for testing. Then connect it to your PC and check if it operates properly. Likely it won’t because your computer doesn’t meet the minimum requirements.
