I upgraded my 9900k to 5.2Ghz across all cores. The RTX 4080 gave me a much better experience—games felt smoother, especially at 1440p, with less stutter. Switching to the Ryzen 7700x improved performance noticeably, boosting lows by 1% and 0.1%. This was the best CPU change I've made in years. In contrast, the 9900k struggled with titles like Hell Let Loose, Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Metro Exodus, and Dying Light 2 compared to the 7700x.

The 9600x and 9700x offer nearly identical gaming capabilities. Fast cores with six cores and twelve threads remain sufficient for current AAA titles. In a few years, consider upgrading to a Zen 6 10800X3D for continued performance. The next CPU release is expected on the AM5 platform. I might not respond right away—it’s late at night and I need rest.
