I own a Corsair H510i capellix that began flashing red before the system powered down. After rebooting, the BIOS reported 96°C CPU temperatures. I assumed it was a hardware failure and replaced the cooler with my previous Ryzen stock unit from the 3600 series. Now the machine doesn’t shut off but displays 76°C at idle when Chrome is running. Everything seems normal since the build went well and there’s no history of overheating or thermal paste issues. I’ve never adjusted CPU settings or overclocked, and the components have always performed reliably.

Started the dirt rally 2 and cruised with temps staying under 85 despite reaching around 300 FPS. Could be the stock Ryzen cooler isn't doing a good job cooling during idle, or maybe the AIO unit is the issue?

For the X3D CPU, a higher-quality cooler works well—either tower-style air or an all-in-one unit. You don’t need the absolute newest AIO model; a decent budget double tower cooler can keep it running smoothly.

I own an U12s and everything is fine—temperatures stay around 60°C under normal conditions.

Yeah, I know. As you have mentioned, Investing in $20-$40 for CPU cooler is recommended and really worth it on the long run LOL, agree Tower air cooler is better for long run, because it's really cheap (unless aiming for the legendary Noctua DH-15 or other new flagship cooler) and the only parts that will break is only the fans and it's really cheap to replace. While for AIO, we're at the mercy of the water pump and hope that the liquid inside won't evaporate after long term use
