r5 2600 OC target - 4.2 ghz
I’m looking for recommendations on a good B450 board to achieve an R5 2600 stable at 4.2GHz overclock. Could someone suggest the best one? Also, I need to decide between the ML 240 Lite and Dark Rock Pro 4 for cooling purposes—only these two are available. I’m aware both have pros, but right now the ML 240 Lite is more affordable than the Dark Rock Pro 4.
Good luck with 4.2GHz on any MB, you should have purchased 2600x and won't need to do an OC for that frequency.
XFR2 and Performance boost2 are key features of X models, offering improved cooling and reducing the need for manual overclocking. Reaching the highest overclock settings requires significantly more investment in a suitable cooler.
Because the conversation moved very slowly, I placed an order for 2600 and ml 240 liquid cooler and an x470 board, and decided against getting another small case. That led me to choose the nzxt h500.
Believe me, go for a bigger case. The footprint isn't bigger than mini ones, but the cooling performance is much better.
They all heat up easily during overclocking, but Ryzen performs much more consistently compared to older FX models. Aim to keep the build under 75°C; AMD suggests a maximum of 90°C. Up to 1.4v should remain stable if you use a quality cooler and maintain proper conditions.
