R3 3300X paired with a budget motherboard
Hey everyone, I'm considering my next build and thinking about purchasing the R3 3300X. Most reviews suggest it's already heavily overclocked out of the box. I was hoping to find MSI B450 Gaming Plus or similar for better VRMs that can handle more overclocking before the release. However, since the R3 3300X is already quite overclocked (and heat is a big issue here—around 30°C), I’m leaning toward the MSI B450 Pro VDH Max, which is affordable.
Instead of focusing on overclocking right now, I’m thinking about spending the money on a GPU upgrade. Or maybe I should wait and see if the CPU can be upgraded later, given how tough it would be to resell and keep playing games. The PC gaming scene here isn’t huge, so I’m weighing GPU performance against future flexibility.
Aim for the VDH maximum. You have a 4-core CPU, that's good enough.
When considering overclocking, pick a board with solid VRM support. These designs tend to last longer and provide a better route for future upgrades.
Yes, some tier lists include Pro DVH max models with adequate VRMs.
