i don't remember exactly when or how, but one day it just took a long time to post. it restarted a few times, waited a couple of minutes, then posted again. after that, it kept doing this. before that, it was still a slow booter because of how my windows drive is set up—never this slow. the specs are: amd ryzen 7 7700x with 8 cores, msi rtx 3080, 2 x 16 gb ddr5 ram, and a samsung ssd 860 evo 250 gb. the bios took about 35.6 seconds.

Begin by resetting the CMOS to factory settings, likely because of "Memory training." Check if there is a newer BIOS version, as earlier ones had this issue.

I sense there could be an issue with the drive. Should I consider upgrading to a new SSD instead?

The BIOS time is unrelated to the actual boot device.

Even more of a reason to update BIOS. If you suspect drive, disconnect it and see.
