so since i built an all amd system using the 7900xtx red devil, i’ve noticed that when using it with my lg gaming monitor like while browsing youtube videos, my whole system loses power and i have to turn it back on. it’s hard to tell if it’s the psu, the gpu, or maybe the wall outlet i replaced. i’ve swapped the surge protector, tested new cables, but i can’t pinpoint the issue. can a gpu cause an entire system to shut down? or is it related to how power is delivered through outlets or surge protectors? i’m dealing with this since march 2023. could someone share some advice? i don’t want to waste money on parts that might not work and then have the same symptoms come back.

The document does not specify the brand and model of the PSU beyond the 7900XTX.

It might simply be a brief power input issue, possibly linked to your surge protector. A major high-power device on the circuit could be responsible, as it begins using three times the usual power when it starts. These uncommon situations are tough to diagnose.

that's what I'm considering, though upgrading the surge protector seems unnecessary since it doesn't address the issue with the dirty power coming from the outlet.

Surge protectors respond solely to abrupt voltage increases during normal operation, unable to address voltage reductions. Their effectiveness diminishes over time, becoming less responsive and more fragile after repeated use. A UPS or voltage stabilizer provides better protection.

EVGA offers a range of 1000w units, spanning from top-tier to budget options, though certain models may encounter problems with high-end GPUs.
