I believe the main problem is inserting any video card into that bottom slot. It will interfere with all the IO connections. I’m not sure about the required clearance, as I never thought about placing something that would block all those connectors.

It’s also unclear how the edge of an ATX motherboard matches up with the back of a case. You’d likely need a case with a removable metal part, even though a slot in that spot isn’t really possible.

If you haven’t bought the motherboard yet, think about choosing another one.

You might also opt for a mount that doesn’t require a case.

Hi all,
I'm considering two motherboards without having bought any yet. The options are Asrock PHANTOM GAMING Z790 Riptide WiFi (budget-friendly) and GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS PRO X (expensive but same features). Any advice or experiences with these choices? Would choosing the cheaper one affect my plans for a dual GPU build?

It's tough to determine why the second option would cost more without reviewing all the details. There are many more metal covers shown in the images. The main differences lie in the specifications—both support PCIe 5.0 x16 and PCIe 4.0 x4. You should be able to fit two video cards that are two slots wide either way. Other distinctions require checking the full documentation to understand their value. Either model should accommodate two video cards, but performance depends on your specific needs.

It wouldn't be an issue if it came down to the chipset level. You should be okay.
