Should I ask the store to send me a CPU from a recent batch? Is there a difference between buying a box version and OEM? How can I find the manufacturing date of the CPU? Since I have the latest BIOS and a recent batch, do I still need to adjust BIOS settings like voltages? Please let me know.
As long as your motherboard includes the BIOS version with microcode 0x12F, it should work. Regarding your thread question, the answer is no—it doesn't matter since the BIOS was instructing the board to waste power on the processor it was sending to its end. In my opinion, I'd avoid this platform; go for AM5 if you're planning a new build.

You mentioned that the issue was limited to 13th and 14th generation CPUs, not affecting the 12th generation. The production method for a cpu will be continuously adjusted for different reasons.
From this perspective, the later it is, the better.
