last night I was playing rust like usual and the pc completely shut off with no warning or even lag previous to shutting down, just straight to a black screen in an instant
I waited a little moment and booted back up and all was fine no lag or nothing so went back on rust, after about 20 mins it did the exact same again so I just left it and went off
Tonight I went to start the pc, it lit up for a second and then all went black, soon after it started making a quiet crackling noise so I just unplugged.
Capacitors look fine, I'm just thinking to order a new PSU and see if that helps
any help is appreciated.

To begin diagnosing, one would require a complete list of all components.

Sure, I understand. However, please wait...I requested the parts list simply to help someone possibly identify the issue.

It is the initial suspect, uncertain if it's the same series, but some MSI PSUs previously experienced this issue. Recently, I encountered a similar problem and discovered the power cable was loose at the input of the PSU. I replaced it with a more solid one.

When it comes to the PSU, go for the best. I purchased the AX1600i, which is the top PSU on the market because I wanted no fan noise and no issues. It's unclear if the PSU itself was the issue; this might require a visit from your local computer shop to inspect. Have you performed any overclocking or undervolting? Is everything set to the default configuration? Did you make any changes before this started happening?

it almost doesn't work properly, causing the CPU to overheat and forcing the PC to shut down at high temperatures to avoid damage. Switching the thermal paste and cleaning the CPU fan thoroughly with a better air blower would help. Don't place any orders until you understand your problem fully!
