Hi everyone, I just received an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 with a Corsair RM850x PSU. I'm wondering if I should upgrade the PSU to something larger. The PC is used mainly for gaming and doesn't have any overclocking plans. Corsair says it's fine, but checking MSI for 1 suggests there might be some issues.

some makers say a minimum of 1000w, while others specify 850w. look into the recommended specs for this model from ASUS. i’d consider running a stress test on the existing device to ensure it performs well.

Make sure to get the Corsair 12VHPWR cable.

The RM850x isn't an ATX3.0 unit, so it will stop at around 1100w, though I don't think this will occur.

When it's near the limit, performance drops and noise increases. Purchase a 1200w high-end PSU. It should last about ten years (~$310): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VL...fu...ex-px-1200

This also relies on the CPU you're using; if it's a low-power model, you should be fine, but if it's a high-consumption one, you might not.
I don't trust the manufacturer's specifications too much since they don't understand how the rest of your PC components fit together.

Also, it performs just as well or better without even doubling the price compared to the Seasonic. The Seasonic is quite costly.
