Hey guys!
A few days back I was playing Palworld and noticed the FPS dropping to 4-5. Since then, I haven’t been able to run any other 3D game at more than that (even games that usually run perfectly like Satisfactory or Diablo IV). 2D pixel indie titles run smoothly (like The Binding of Isaac). It’s worth mentioning that other apps such as Mozilla also experience significant delays when I open the games.
I tried the following:
- Restarting and formatting
- Reinstalling the nvidia drivers
- Updating the rest of the drivers on the computer
- Repasting and cleaning the fans (didn’t fix it but now games load 50% faster!)
My PC is an oldie but it’s been reliable until now, so I’m not sure why it’s acting up! Here are my specs:
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core
- RAM: 32gb
And here are some stats from MSI Afterburner while playing Palworld at 4fps (sorry if this doesn’t make sense, I’m not very familiar with computer stats)
- GPU temperature: 48c
- GPU usage: 99%
- FB usage: 66%
- Memory usage: 3880 (about 50% visually)
Any suggestions on what might be happening? Thanks!!!

Have you considered reinstalling Windows? It might be a major driver issue that's stuck in your system and requires a thorough cleanup, hehe...

Try a DDU. Completely remove the drivers and reinstall them from the beginning unless you have already done so, in which case ignore this and simply say: DONE THAT

CPU temps refer to the temperatures of the processor, and a cooler is something used to help manage those temperatures.

Just used DDU, then downloaded the newest driver from the nvidia site and did a fresh install. Still nothing fixed. 😞
The CPU stays around 44-46°C while running the game. I have an AMD cooler but don’t know the exact model, sorry. I’ll check if it helps!

It's true it's an older setup, but running Palworld needs a 1060 minimum anyway. I'm glad I can check requirements before starting any game now.

Well actually, even Risk of Rain 2, a game I've played for around 200 hours without issues, becomes unplayable. It seems my computer is definitely not functioning properly.
For an odd reason, UserBenchmark isn't letting me run their program. Others online have faced the same issue. Do you have any other options to consider?

It seems you're asking about the meaning of "not allowing me to use it." Could you clarify what context you're referring to? This phrase might relate to permissions, restrictions, or usage policies in a specific situation. Let me know so I can assist further.
