I've come across an unusual issue.
Upon receiving the new PC components, I quickly built a test bench right away. When I connected the GPU into the PCIe x16 slot, it failed to POST...
The motherboard displayed a white LED close to the VGA label.
I almost believed the graphics card was non-functional, but after placing the GPU in the lower x16 slot with reduced bandwidth, the PC managed to boot successfully.
Using GPU-Z, I noticed the GPU is running in x4 mode, yet supports x16 3.0 mode? This is puzzling.
I attempted to switch the slot's mode to Gen3, thinking my GPU wouldn't work in Gen4, but it still didn't post again!
I'm uncertain if the problem lies with the motherboard or just the GPU, though all other parts are new except for the GPU and RAM.
Here are my specifications:
MBD: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: Asus Rog Strix RX 570 OC 8GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz

You don't have an M.2 SSD; it's a SATA III SSD. You're asking whether the issue is with the GPU or the SSD itself. If you meant the GPU, it's currently in the lower X16 slot because this motherboard has two X16 slots—one with steel armor and one below it. You might consider trying that option, but you're not entirely sure.

This indicates the card is x16 and fits into an x4 slot. The second x16 slot on the motherboard works electrically as x4. Consider forcing it into PCIe 2.0 mode. Are you employing any PCIe riser cables?

i installed the GPU directly into the motherboard. i double-checked to make sure it was properly seated. i tried before too, but it didn't work out.

I used the BIOS Flashback function on my motherboard, which seems to indicate a BIOS version from 2023. Now it's updated, July 2024. I connected the GPU into the x16 4.0 slot but it didn't boot, and the VGA debug LED remains active with no signal detected.

Reset the BIOS using the jumper afterward.
Note: There is a new BIOS version 7C56v1I released in August. Re-seat the CPU and avoid applying too much pressure on the cooler screws when tightening.

the cpu is related to this gpu and motherboard issue because i updated the bios, and checking msinfo32 confirmed it matches the specific version.

I'm almost certain it will simply revert my BIOS configurations.
