So recently I upgraded my internet to 500mbps. When I use my phone or any other device in the house they're getting speeds of about 300+mbps. Even when I connect a wifi card into my pc that I know is good I'm not getting any higher than 60mbps. Is my pc not good enough? Or am I just dumb? Or both?

I'm using an ASUS prime-b350 plus board with a Ryzen 5 3600 processor running at 4.2 GHz, paired with 32GB of RAM that speeds up to 3200MHz, and I have an Nvidia RTX 2060 card attached.

How fast does your internet go when you use a cable instead of wireless? Which Wi-Fi chip are you currently connected to?

My friend says he has a really fast USB wifi dongle that's actually wired ethernet speed from TPlink called Archer TN2U Nano and it works great on my laptop.

Is this your main internet gateway, or did you plug it into Wi-Fi coming straight from your modem? I'm asking because some people have a secondary router that only gets power via Wi-Fi and they get bad speeds. Do the lights on this box show a gigabit connection for the PC you're using? Have you checked how fast your link is in Windows settings?

The connection speed on Windows shows up as 100/100 Mbps even though the labels on those ports say gigabit. That's because the router coming directly from my ISP is the one limiting how fast things go, not the actual port.

Can you send me a picture of the speedtest.net results that show both Wi-Fi and wired internet? I need to see them together so I can compare how fast it is on each one. Remember, please make sure only one connection is active at a time. If you use wired internet, turn off your Wi-Fi. And if you use Wi-Fi, turn off your ethernet cable.
