Question When I try to shut down my PC, it won't go off.
Hey, when I hit the power button on Windows 10 or press it from the case itself, my computer stops showing video and all my external devices go dark. But the fans inside stay spinning and everything keeps running in the back. Here are my parts: CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600x, GPU is a GTX 1050, Motherboard is Gygabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC, RAM is two sticks of TeamGroup M.2 with 8GB each, and I have a 1 TB NVMe SSD from WD Blue SN570. Power comes from Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 80+ Gold 600W supplies.
I tried turning off the hardware settings again. Sometimes this causes problems with Windows and the motherboard, so I will try to install new driver software for the chipset from AMD's website. Here is a link: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am4/b550
Is this a new computer? There might be mistakes or omissions with how things are connected, especially inside the case. You're wondering why you have to press the physical button on the case to shut down instead of using the Windows icon. Turning the PC off physically can cause problems like corrupted files and even more issues later.
I thought that too, but looking at things up close, the power button on the case and the one inside Windows seem to do exactly the same thing. It still depends on how long you press the physical button down though; if you hold it for too long, it will shut down hard instead of turning off normally.
