When launching a game or firmware, I notice a strong single click from my PC. I often close the program or restart it and then try again, hoping the noise stops. This happens sometimes while playing games. I recently replaced the power supply unit, which was old at around six years, thinking it might be failing. I inspected all the fans on both the GPU and system side, as well as the AIO units. After the click occurs, I can’t make it repeat consistently. If I let the system sit idle for about an hour and then restart, the clicking becomes audible again. It looks like a relay is clicking repeatedly. My hardware includes a 13900k processor, an Asus Z790 Hero motherboard, a 4090FE chipset, and a 1200W Asus Thor PSU. I’ve searched online for hours but found nothing relevant. I recorded a video after starting the PC and leaving it idle for roughly an hour. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There was no sound, possibly the GPU fans activating or the PSU fan turning on/off. Using an HDD might also cause this issue.

The click occurs around the 3-second point. I hoped it was an HDD, but I'm using 2,980 Pro NVMe drives instead. I considered checking the GPU fan, but I can turn them on manually without any noise. I plan to let it idle and just engage the fan to see if the sound appears. No, I haven't tried that yet.

Just let the PC sit idle for an hour before using the afterburner to turn on the fans. No click sound was heard. I'm really confused.

I've been working all afternoon trying to solve this issue. I double-checked everything, made sure no fans were touching anything. The PSU fan turns on and off without making any sound. It's really inconsistent. Am I overreacting?

Reduced the problem to the GPU. Reached out to Nvidia with a video, and they confirmed the noise is a known issue with the 4090. I replaced the GPU.
