I recall Bill Gates presenting on his stage while promoting Windows 7. He claimed this is the style people truly desire and it will never change. That's quite funny. Each time they release a new update, you have to relearn how to use a computer. Even basic functions like the start button and search have shifted.

I'd like to create shortcuts for apps such as Notepad and Paint on my desktop, or add them to the start menu. Unfortunately, I haven't managed to get Paint working yet.

I need to adjust the power settings for my display. Online sources suggest: "To change power and sleep settings in Windows 11, go to Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen and sleep." There don't appear to be power settings under System anymore—they were once in Personalization. Can someone assist with these two problems?

TIA Desmond.
P.S.
If you're using Windows 11 or 10, a simple method is to drag the Notepad shortcut from the Start Menu onto your desktop.

Press the start button. Enter power into the search field. It's time to learn Windows 11. Don't worry, it's actually quite simple.

To apply paint on your desktop, type "paint" in the search bar and run it. Use Task Manager to locate it, then search C: drive for the file and move it to your desktop.

Using the typing feature in the search bar produces this poor result. I needed to change the monitor's power settings.

If you right click Start and select power options, you receive the menu displayed here:
which other ones were you looking for?
A lot of the items that were in the control panel are now being moved to Settings. You can still search for Control panel and pick Power options there, but the options remain the same just presented differently.
