I own a laptop, a Toshiba Satellite P875-S7102, which automatically powers off after 30 minutes. Initially it came with Windows 8.0 and is now running Windows 10. I recorded its usage time from start to shutdown at 30 minutes using a stopwatch and the built-in CPU uptime feature. Around that time, the machine completely turns off with a clear mechanical click. Thinking it might be an operating system problem, I changed the power settings to "Never" for shutdowns and sleep, but it had no impact. After some work, I managed to boot it from a USB drive running Unix Mint. It still shuts down after 30 minutes, which makes me suspect a mechanical failure—possibly due to overheating. It seems like the overload or heat issue is causing the same shutdown timing each time. I've tested the shutdown duration multiple times in quick succession, twice on the second try using the USB stick. The pattern remains consistent. Also, the fan appears to be functioning properly. Anyone have any advice? I’d prefer not to start replacing parts randomly. Are there stress tests or diagnostics you could suggest for the cooling system or other components?

I started the BIOs Utility Setup directly from startup via F2.
Executed the test twice and in both cases it stopped after 30 minutes. (29m:46 sec, approx.)

The issue seems linked to the BIOS files. The best approach would be to examine the BIOS settings individually to identify the source. If a temperature monitor is present in the BIOS, checking the CPU temperature could provide useful insight.

If it's the BIOs and you're using the Unix flash drive, your device should continue to utilize its built-in BIOs.
