Question System-wide blackouts and restarts occur during gaming
Hello everyone, over the past couple of weeks I've experienced occasional crashes while playing games, mostly in Warzone. I can play for long periods sometimes, but I often reach the halfway point before encountering a frame drop. After that, the display becomes blank and I see a black screen while searching for it. Then the PC shuts down completely and restarts. On other occasions, everything seems fine and I can't find a consistent cause through testing.
I've updated the BIOS, replaced some parts, removed and swapped out half of my RAM to ensure only one type remains, and updated all drivers. Here are my system details:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900 - 12-core, 3.10GHz base / 4.30GHz turbo, 64MB L3 cache, Pro OC compatible
FAN: Corsair Hydro Series H45 High Performance Liquid Cooling with 120mm radiator, Extreme OC compatible
HDD: 1TB Seagate BarraCuda SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 7200RPM (1 drive)
M2SSD: 250GB WD Blue SN550 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (2400MB/s read, 950MB/s write)
MEMORY: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3200mhz Dual Channel (HyperX Fury with heat spreader)
MOTHERBOARD: MSI B450-A Pro MAX ATX with RGB, USB 3.1, SATA3, one M.2 slot
POWERSUPPLY: Corsair CV650 650W 80+ Bronze Gaming power supply
SSD: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" (550MB/s read / 520MB/s write)
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
POWERSUPPLY: Corsair CV650 650W 80+ Bronze Gaming Power Supply
I wouldn't have purchased that PSU for such a build. I'd consider swapping it with a better one, possibly from a friend or neighbor.
What's the age of your current unit? Also, what BIOS version is installed on your motherboard?
I’m hoping for it to be PSU. However, I was testing benchmarks and playing games with the monitor on while the power supply was active, and all voltages looked stable. I’m not sure if small changes would be noticeable in this way.
