When RAM is limited, having extra memory becomes much more crucial than any small slowdown from not using dual-channel. Running at 2x8 should suffice, but avoid it if possible. It’s best to test both options. If performance drops noticeably and you don’t need more than 16 units, skip the third stick. Also monitor CPU usage since memory bandwidth can really impact performance.
