My motherboard is an MSI X670E Carbon WiFi and I’m running 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 6000mhz cl30 RAM. I’ve never faced issues with Expo on the 7800X3D; my system stayed stable for two years without crashes or freezes. But after upgrading to the 9800X3D, gaming becomes unstable—my screen freezes around three minutes into a Helldivers session, CPU temperatures spike, and I often have to hard reset the PC. After updating the BIOS, things improved slightly, letting me finish a Helldivers game, but it froze again when switching tabs to the web browser. It’s odd that both my old RAM and motherboard are affected by the new CPU while the previous one isn’t. Is this a CPU or RAM problem? Any advice would be helpful.

Further investigation revealed that the problem likely stems from the game itself rather than your system. Helldivers 2 seems to be responsible for many crashes and freezes, possibly because of a recent spike in player numbers. This issue appears to be specific to this game and not common across other titles.

When sharing a troubleshooting thread, ensure you provide complete system details. List specifications as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the PSU age along with its make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
After processor swap, did you encounter an fTPM reset message during POST?
Moved the thread from the Memory section to the Systems section.

@Lutfij suggests checking the stability of 9800X3D, as it often crashes. Uninstalling MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner might resolve the problem.

Disabled RAM EXPO, but freezing persists when starting the game, needing a hard reset. Did I purchase a defective CPU?
Update 2
Reinstalled the 7800x3d, still experiencing freezing. The only other adjustment was upgrading the power supply. Thinking if that’s causing the freezing issue.

You can check whether reinstalling the older PSU affects the 7800x3d, and if not, other problems may have occurred on hardware or software. This issue seems to occur with certain games but not others—possibly due to a software update involving drivers or the game itself.

I tried the PSU and recently played the finals for a few rounds without issues. But my GPU usage was around 65 percent, while with Helldivers it reached 99 percent. I believe the high power consumption at maximum load on the 5090 might be linked to the freezing, which often occurs near 100 percent usage.

The 65% utilization suggests the GPU isn't being used effectively, whereas 99% indicates proper optimization. Check if the problem occurs only in one game or multiple ones. If it's just one, the issue lies with that specific game.

They're suggesting that at 99% GPU usage, the system fails, possibly pointing to a power supply issue.
