Question Sapphire Nitro+ versus Pure?
Question Sapphire Nitro+ versus Pure?
The decision for the Nitro + design was to use the 12V-2x6 connector style because of the card's appearance. The GPU's TDP is less than what Nvidia cards typically require. Examining the connector clarifies how power is directed onto a small area of the PCB. The connector's layout remains uncertain for Nvidia due to issues with melting connectors from their high-end cards, though AMD's recent releases (like the 9070/9070XT) show lower power consumption and match the RTX5070.
from a few reviewers comments mainly from HUB and GN have said while the power draw is way lower there is always a chance it will melt ..
I think everyone is really really scared with 12v-2x6 at the moment and with good reason after 4090 and 5090 issues..
personally i would steer clear of it BUT is it a huge issue like the 5090 .. NO
But i can safely say if any connector is not connected properly there are risks ..
I slightly melted my 2x8 connector on my 7900xtx using the ezy fab right angled connector and HOW ??
I simply failed to push the connector all the way in after a rebuild ..
Playing nightingale was on my mobile in front of my computer and next minute looked at pc and fire
🙁
Luck has it as its not done much damage and i can still push the 2x8 pcie plug 99% of the way in and its working fine and not over heating so its all good but could have been alot worse..
Two things that don’t fit together are PCs and fire. I think if you find a similar card with the older 8-pin connectors, it would be better. The design has been around for a long time and looks pretty secure. Just my opinion.
