Hi everyone!
I’m experiencing some performance problems and would really value any advice.
My hardware setup:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU: Intel Arc B580
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M AORUS Elite
RAM: G.Skill Aegis 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
Storage: 3 SSDs
XMP: Enabled |
Resizable BAR: Enabled |
PBO: Enabled |
Temps: All normal

Overall, everything works well, but in certain games—such as Spider-Man Remastered and God of War—I’m seeing much lower performance than benchmarks with similar configurations. I’ve been tracking usage via the Steam overlay and noticed this trend:
During intense moments, my CPU usage stays high at 80–100%, while GPU drops to 50–60%. But in cutscenes or when facing a wall (when processing is minimal), the GPU spikes to 90–100%. This pattern is similar when my character is in a confined space.
It seems like a possible CPU bottleneck, though I’m not sure why others with identical builds maintain near-full GPU usage even during gameplay across all scenes.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Are there other settings or adjustments I should consider?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Please specify your PSU make, model, and age. Also, let me know the BIOS version you're using for your motherboard.

Absolutely, I should have noticed that the PSU might be an issue. My unit is a Chieftec CTG-650C, which appears to be of low quality. It shows up in several PSU tier lists in the lowest categories, possibly affecting my system's stability. I installed all the drivers with DDU during the initial setup, right after assembling the PC. BIOS - American Megatrends International, LLC. FE, 22.03.2024
