I chose to clean up my drive. Performed a fresh installation of Windows 11, which took a long time to restore everything properly. However, I noticed something when I right-clicked the context menu: there was a "NEW" option that opened as "TEXT Document." This feature seems missing after the fresh install. I’m not sure if the latest update removed it, since I’m not certain what caused it. Since this was a fresh installation and disk formatting was done, I’ve read some methods to recover it using registry tweaks, but I’m wondering if there’s another way without going that route or figuring out why it disappeared?

What precisely is absent?
You can share a screenshot by uploading it to imgur.com and posting the link.

When you right-click the desktop and access the context menu, next to NEW appears an option with folders, but there isn't a Text document listed. This behavior is consistent across other systems, yet it doesn't occur during this new installation. I'm also discovering that MS Paint isn't available on my system, so I had to purchase it from the MS Store. It's a bit unusual.

You might not have the necessary permissions to create files in the Desktop folder. When you click inside the "My Documents" folder, you'll see the available options.

never mind. i figured it out. the last time i did a fresh install of windows was 7 years ago, and a lot of things were included—paint, notepad, etc. Now when you do a fresh install, many items are no longer there; you have to get them from the Microsoft store. I thought paint and notepad were included before. When i did an install long ago, i made an image and updated it occasionally, but never needed a full reinstall. I found a text document on my system and saw it mentioned a new version of notepad. So i downloaded it from the store, and now it appears as a correct right-click new TEXT document on my system. i’m good now. thanks.
