The design with both 8-pin and 4-pin connectors means you can still use a PSU with an 8-pin connector. It won't affect compatibility as long as the PSU supports the necessary power pins.

Avoid pushing a top-end chip too hard and it will work just fine

The additional four-pin connector offers no benefit unless you aim to break overclocking records.

My system runs on a Ryzen 9 5900X and stays under 200W even at full overclocking limits. This is well within the 235W capacity of a standard 8-pin 12V power connector. Unless you're using a different model like the 5950X or 3950X, you shouldn't hit any connector restrictions.
