I have a pc with a 13900k cpu, an asus z790 e mb. The machine shuts down after a few minutes. I tried eliminating components one by one, leaving only the mb with the cpu and one memory stick. I replaced the psu, cleared the cmos, tried using two memory sticks one at a time, and reinserted the cpu. The cpu isn’t overheating in bios (it shows 39 degrees). When i press the start button on the mb, it boots up after about a minute and stays in bios for around ten minutes before shutting down again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m really confused about what to do next.

Do you have an operating system installed on Windows? Based on your setup, it seems you haven't mentioned any storage device in your specifications, so I assume you don’t.
Why does it immediately jump to BIOS if you do have one? (or are you going through the BIOS manually?)
Q) What were you doing for ten minutes in the BIOS? Were you just sitting there without moving the cursor or choosing options, or were you performing an action that caused it to shut down?
If you weren’t interacting with the menu or cursor, it could be because it’s not being used and since there’s no bootable OS drive, it simply powers off. To check this, try navigating through some menus in the BIOS without changing any settings—just observe if the issue persists.
Finally, install an OS onto a drive and then boot from it to see if the same problems occur. Ideally, you wouldn’t encounter this again.

Thank you for the suggestion. I do have an os. I only stay in bios because i want to see if shutdown happens. I noticed that everytime my pc shutdown and boot up again, the csm setting in bios is always set to disbaled even i set it to enable manually before. And i also find that when i run without gpu, i cannot enable the csm also. I need the csm to access sata ssd where my system is.

Sorry for the mix-up, the shutdown began in OS. I'm just running tests to pinpoint specific parts. I'm waiting in BIOS to check if the shutdown occurs. The likely cause right now seems to be a damaged PCIe port. Since every shutdown disables the CSM setting, which matches the behavior when MB runs without GPU. It's possible each shutdown is related to the GPU being unplugged from the MB.

Remove the SSD and check its functionality. Also, test another PCI slot with the GPU. Finally, completely eliminate the GPU and see how it performs.
